Sligo County Council is the latest Irish authority to introduce Parking Tag
The Parking Tag is a popular cashless mobile parking payment system, operating in Ireland. It is dedicated to those who park regularly in the included areas and aims to reduce the hassle of their journey, as least when taking care of stationing is concerned. What is requested by drivers, is only to install the Parking Tag app on their smart phones and payments can easily be done online, by SMS or phone call which eliminates the necessity to use coins at parking meters.
The innovative service is operated by the network provider Payzone and has just been introduced in the Sligo County. It is used by more than 200,000 motorists in Ireland already, including Dublin City, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, Dún Laoghaire Harbour, Fingal, South Dublin, Arklow, Wicklow, Greystones, Bray and Laois.
By introducing this new smart service, the local County Council hopes to encourage more people to park in the town, with a positive upshot for local businesses.
Once registered, customers can park immediately in any of the twelve parking areas and can also take advantage of day rate parking, where available.
