Pedestrian and Cyclist Bridge Over the Vistula River by 2020

The bridge will bring a brand new quality to the city’s infrastructure – both architecture- and transport-wise

A bridge for pedestrians and cyclists across the Vistula River is to link Warsaw’s Powiśle and Praga districts by the end of 2020. The 463 meters long and 9 meters wide structure will have observation decks and places to rest. The bridge will bring a brand new quality to the city’s infrastructure – both architecture- and transport-wise.

There was a competition with which Warsaw City Council aimed to select the best architectural concept for the pedestrian and cycle bridge in architectural, visual, functional, communication and economic terms. The winning design is by Schuessler-Plan Inżynierzy. The design won because of its “reserved and extremely elegant form” which suits this part of the city. The project is to cost 6.6 million Polish Zloty (a bit more than 1.5 million euro).
