The project is focused on making the school building more energy efficient by reducing heat loss, greenhouse gas emissions and this way – to cut energy use, induced costs and pollution. As secondary objectives, the initiative will improve the comfort and usability of facilities in the building.
Project activities include insulation of the façade, cellar and ceiling, refurbishment of doors and windows, replacement of the heating system, modernizing the technology for using solar power. The modernization of the Kecskemet Primary School of Béke is happening within the framework of the Széchenyi 2020 program and has received an EU grant which amounts to HUF 220,706,950, funded at 100% rate, supported by domestic contribution.
The application was submitted by the Municipality of Kecskemet and is part of their strategy which aims to contribute to the preservation of environmental values. It complied with the requirements of the national and EU legislation in force and has taken a decisive step towards the goals set out in the city's territorial strategy documents, among which is reducing carbon emissions, fostering eco-consciousness and thereby establishing a greener city.
