Il 29 giugno è la festa di San Pietro e San Paolo, i due santi patroni di Roma, e giorno festivo all'interno della capitale. San Pietro, primo vescovo di Roma e omonimo della chiesa più grande del mondo, e San Paolo sono patroni della città eterna. Entrambi gli apostoli furono martirizzati a Roma entro 3 anni l'uno dall'altro ed entrambi sono stati sepolti nelle due basiliche che portano il loro nome oggi: San Pietro in Vaticano e San Paolo fuori le mura, a sud del centro storico. Entrambe le chiese hanno statue corrispondenti dei due santi. Li vedrete anche rappresentati su entrambi i lati del ponte che porta a Castel Sant'Angelo, la fortezza sul fiume che un tempo proteggeva i papi, San Pietro con le chiavi del paradiso e San Paolo con la spada.
La capitale italiana festeggia il 29 giugno come festa ufficiale, per questo troverete alcuni negozi e uffici chiusi e trasporti in esecuzione a orari ridotti. Ma potrete aspettarti meno disagi di quelli in una vacanza nazionale, con i trasporti interurbani che funzionano come al solito e la maggior parte dei musei e delle attrazioni turistiche rimangono aperte.
