Barcelona, Madrid and Vigo will be testing new environmentally friendly and effective vehicles
Three Spanish cities are testing innovative solutions for public transport. Local transport service providers in Barcelona, Madrid and Vigo are starting test drives of electric buses in January, 4th of February and 14-22nd February respectively, reports Intelligent Transport. The Alstom buses are reportedly associated with reduced costs of maintenance and their service life can reach as much as 20 years, which matches the current diesel vehicles.
The former will be with improved design and allow for about 20% more light, thanks to bigger windows. The increased comfort is guaranteed by extended lounge area on the rear end and finally – the busses will be accessible to people with physical disabilities thanks to low floors and wide double doors.
The tests are supposed to prove the convenience of the buses to the specific urban settings and transport systems in the three cities, hence they will be conducted in depots and under real traffic circumstances. The above is meant to showcase to what extend are they autonomous, performant and applicable as a traffic solution. Similarly, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany have already confirmed the benefits of the new electric transport solution by Aptis.
