The three-day campaign precedes the participation of the Irish city in the Best Kept Town 2019 competition

Galway City has been nominated to take part in the competition Ireland’s Best Kept Town 2019, announce proudly from the City Council. The Irish city will be participating under the award category Best Kept large Urban Centre Award. This nomination results from the very good performance of the city in last year’s SuperValu Tidy Towns Competition, when it was awarded silver medal.

As for the Best Kept Town competition, it is organized by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Northern Ireland Amenity Council and covers the entirety of the island. Activities under Ireland’s Best Kept towns Competition will be organized in May.

In the context of this campaign Galway City Council is promoting a “Clean up Weekend” starting from today till the 28th April, which coincides with other “Clean Up Days” that are currently taking place throughout the City. The authorities warmly encourage all citizens to get involved in cleaning one way or another, thereby helping the city look at its best for the competition. The former will be providing the necessary equipment, including bags, gloves and litter pickers. They can be collected from the City Hall, College Road. At the end of the cleaning, the litter collected will be removed by the Litter Management Unit staff at the city council.

What is more, the authority is organizing a Draw where you have a chance of winning a EUR 100 One for All voucher. In order to participate, visit www.galwaycity.ie/bestkepttown  and provide the details of your Clean Up.
