Sustainable student housing to be built in Lyngby

Sustainable student housing to be built in Lyngby

The project is expected to be completed by the summer of 2021

If you're the average student in Denmark looking for housing, it may be difficult to find where to begin your quest. The search for student houses can be very infuriating and time-consuming, but there are good news on the horizon -  soon, Lyngby will boast 478 brand-new sustainable student homes.

The project is scheduled for completion by the summer of 2021. The venue will be constructed in collaboration with PensionDanmark and DTU’s Housing Fund.

The future complex will be the first one in Denmark to receive both the Swan Label and the DGNB certification. The aim of the project is to meet the demand for student housing.

The working plan is expected to be officially approved in January 2020. The finalization of the project will meet the growing demand for affordable, student housing heightened by the increasing student population.

The draft for the project was developed by Scandi Byg, a construction company that uses the innovative building technique of modular construction. The houses will be situated in North Jutland, as the foundation is simultaneously being laid on location in Lyngby, speeding up the process as a whole while tiering the development.

Denmark on the path to guarantee students housing

As already reported by TheMayor.eu Denmark is on the path to guaranteeing students housing in Copenhagen. Around 65,700 new students are getting enrolled in educational institutions across the country each year and the student village will be offering newcomers the perfect places and conditions in which to reside.

Recent figures show that around 22,000 student homes are needed nationwide, including 8,400 in Copenhagen alone. In this regard, the Danish government has revealed that it wants to guarantee student housing in Copenhagen, as is currently the case in other cities like Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg.

The Danish government aims to strike a deal with other municipalities in the area around Copenhagen, as well as with the stakeholders on the housing rental market, but it might take time to set up.
