Three out of four visually impaired people in Europe are jobless, often because they have no access to digital information in the workplace. The Tactonom enables blind people to access digital content without the help of others and so improve their chances to get a job. Within 10 years the German startup Inventivio strives to grant 10 % of blind people below the age of 65 years to successfully integrate the work space.
Tactonom is a tactile graphics display containing over 10 500 tactile points on an A4-sized touch pad which translates digital content into tactile content. The software translates screen content automatically into Braille-text and tactile graphics. The software platform is open and external software developers can create their own Apps. The European Commission supports the Tactonom in line with its Horizon 2020 program.
