The 2020 EU Sustainable Energy Week Goes Online

Registration opens in June, but the programme has already been published

This year, the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) will go online, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, announced the organisers. The programme for 2020 has already been announced.

What is EUSEW

EUSEW represents a series of activities which throughout a month aim to build a secure energy future for Europe. It first took place in 2006, initiated by the European Commission.

The event organised by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) brings together public authorities, private companies, NGOs and consumers with the objective to promote initiatives to save energy and move towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient power.

It has several main components, like the Energy Days. Those are digital activities and events organised by local public and private organisations want to promote clean energy and energy efficiency.

Anyone can organise them locally, by registering their event and proving how it contributes to the energy and climate goals of the EU. They should take place in May or June.

The EU Sustainable Energy Awards (23 June) are also part of EUSEW. They recognise outstanding individuals and projects for their innovation in energy efficiency and renewables.

The Networking Village which is usually is hosted in the European Commission's Charlemagne building and the Residence Palace provides the opportunity for participants and stakeholders to exchange ideas on policies and best practices.

It is also the occasion to lay foundations for future cooperation. This year’s dates were announced as 23 to 25 June 2020.

Likewise, the Policy Conference (23-25 June) - the biggest European conference dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe – also goes digital. This is the first time ever that the policy conference will be organised in a digital format. The 2020 topic was announced as “Beyond the crisis: clean energy for green recovery and growth".

The extended programme which features individual webinars hosted by EUSEW partners, includes dozens of side events. The registrations will launch in June. Learn more about the programme and how to register on the official website of EUSEW 2020.
