The beach season in Gdynia is now open

There are four bathing areas with designated lifeguards

The summer season on Gdynia's beaches officially started last week. On Friday the bathing areas at Śródmieście, Redłowo, Orłowo and Babie Doły were open. They will be guarded by thirty-seven lifeguards by the end of august between 9:30 and 17:30, report the local authorities.

On the inauguration day, the vice-president of Gdynia for development, Marek Łucyk, met with lifeguard representatives, the Gdynia Sports Centre and services operating in the coordination of bathing activities.  He wished a good holiday to all beach lovers and reassured them that they can feel comfortable and safe in Gdynia including while bathing. He also praised the merit of lifeguards and their good training and preparation, as well as their high-quality equipment. Łucyk was convinced that the Polish city would continue to improve the standards in the field.

As for the lifeguard stations, they are provided with four rescue boats, an ATV vehicle and a rescue platform. On each of the four bathing areas there is a help point, in which a full-time paramedic is on duty, with equipment for giving qualified first aid.

The Gdynia marina was also visited by Marcin Majek, the head of the Kosakowo commune. On this occasion, partnership agreements were signed regarding the administration and handling of the Babie Doły bathing resort between Gdynia and the Kosakowo commune, just like last year. Majek was approving of the opportunity to cooperate and jointly manage bathing in the area and defined it as one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire Tricity area (Gdansk, Gdynia, Sopot metropolitan area).

According to the agreement, the swimming pool in Babie Dołach will be run jointly by both entities, which will bear the costs of its maintenance

Furthermore, the Śródmieście bathing beach and at the Marina Gdynia yacht marina have also been given blue flags. This prestigious award by the International Foundation for Environmental Education based in Denmark, signifies that the beaches meet strict quality standards for cleanliness and safety of sunbathing and swimming.

The guarded bathing resort Gdynia Śródmieście, 200 meters long, is equipped with showers, toilets, changing rooms, medical point, sun lounger rental, eating places nearby and a playground for children. People with disabilities can use the bathing trolley.
