The Hague is combating the housing crisis building skyscrapers

By 2040, the number of residents is expected to reach 627 000

In order to tackle the housing shortages, high residential towers are going to be built in the city. With more than 140/150 meters height, the new buildings will be the highest in The Hague, drastically changing the city’s landscape. In fact, the Netherlands faces a severe housing shortage that has sent prices through the roof.

By 2040, the number of residents is expected to reach 627 000 compared to 460 000 20 years ago. In terms to provide all its residents with a home, the City council has a long-term plan. The construction of the towers must begin in 2020, with around 2500 homes being built every year.
