Italy is opening the doors to 1000 cultural monuments, including castles, churches, villas, hidden gardens, and museums, many of which are usually closed to the public
If you are somewhere in Italy this weekend, don’t miss the “'Giornate FAI di primavera”. This is an initiative promoted by The National Trust for Italy, FAI, that’s going already for 26 years. The annual event is growing each year and the list for this edition includes more than 1000 cultural treasures.
On 24th and 25th of March tourists and locals could visit ornate villas, hidden gardens, historic castles, churches, museums, and other secret spots that usually keep their doors closed. Entry to all of the sites is free, though there's an optional donation to FAI of between €2 and €5, and in a few cases entry is restricted to members of the organization. These exceptions are clearly marked on the website, where you can find a full list of the open sites across the entire country.
