Venezia ha una nuova idea per controllare la quantità di turisti che attraversano la città dei canali. In anticipo alla stagione turistica estiva di punta, il sindaco di Venezia Luigi Brugnaro ha firmato un'ardillazione per separare le migliaia di turisti dai residenti locali in tutta la città. Brugnaro ha definito le nuove politiche "misure urgenti per garantire la sicurezza pubblica e la vivibilità nella città storica di Venezia".
Queste norme temporanee, introdotte per il prossimo fine settimana festivo in Italia e valide dal 28 aprile al 1 maggio, mirano principalmente alla gestione del traffico pedonale, idrico e automobilistico. Secondo la proclamazione, alcune aree della città saranno accessibili solo ai residenti e ai "visitatori abituali" o ai possessori di una tessera Venezia Unica, un pass per la città all-in-one che consente agli abitanti locali di accedere a cose come i mezzi pubblici, gli eventi culturali e siti turistici. I turisti che arrivano in barca non potranno sbarcare a Riva degli Schiavoni, mentre chi arriva in auto non avrà accesso al Ponte della Libertà.
