The first virtual health room, established in the small village of Slussfors, offers patients the ability to take their own medical tests and benefit from remote consultations with healthcare professionals
The project called “Innovation power for thinly populated areas”aims to address the problem of accessing healthcare services in large regions with a sparse population in Sweden. The 630 000 Euros co-funding from the European Regional Development Fund will be used for the development of “society rooms” across the sparsely-populated Swedish region of Västerbotten. The project aims to improve access to quality healthcare in remote areas, where it is difficult for many to access healthcare services.
The first virtual health room, established in the small village of Slussfors, offers patients the ability to take their own medical tests and benefit from remote consultations with healthcare professionals. The project has increased the number of these rooms in the region to seven and renamed them “society room”’ in an attempt to broaden the virtual healthcare concept. More stakeholders and organisations will be invited to make use of the rooms, so that they may be used for multiple functions to the benefit of more actors.
