This year’s conference will discuss the Mentorship and Research programmes, tech challenges and inclusive action in equitable cities, promoted by women mayors.
The Women4Climate initiative was started by C40 with the objective to inspire the next generation of climate leaders through a global mentorship program for the women in C40 cities; shape the conversation through top-level decision-making, involve future leaders and raise awareness through research on gender, cities and climate and thereby to underline the essential part women play in promoting environmental action in cities. The programme, launched by C40 Chair & Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo in 2016, matches mayors, city officials, and committed leaders from the business sector and civil society with emerging climate activists. The objective is to have empowered 500 young women by the end of the decade.
